The lower middle market is where Opus sees the greatest opportunity for growth. Businesses in our target range are large enough to have proven durability - they have survived recessions, competitive disruptions, and the ongoing challenges associated with growing a business - yet small enough that they retain meaningful operational upside that skilled and empowered management can unlock.

Due to their size, these companies are systematically underserved by the capital markets and are typically overlooked by traditional private equity firms. Opus was built precisely for this gap.

Our Process

From First Conversation to Long-Term Partnership

Our sector specialists and network of operating advisors surface opportunities before they reach the market, allowing us to move decisively and price rationally.

We conduct diligence transparently, sharing our findings with management teams and inviting their perspective. This builds trust and ensures both parties enter the partnership with aligned expectations and a shared view of value-creation levers.

Before we close, we develop a detailed 100-day plan and multi-year value creation roadmap in collaboration with management. This covers organic growth initiatives, add-on acquisition strategy, operational improvements, and talent development.

We work proactively with management to identify areas of need and provide hands-on support across finance, sales, HR, technology - whatever the business needs most. Once we acquire a company within an industry, it will be the platform for further acquisitions in order to gain scale and accelerate growth.

We exit only when the platform is positioned to thrive under new ownership and when a potential transaction delivers the best possible outcome for all stakeholders, including our management teams and employees.
